IRVINE — Some 400 seniors danced the night away Sunday evening at Age Well Senior Services’ annual Senior Prom, held at the Irvine Marriott.
Themed “Harvest Moon,” the event is Age Well’s largest fundraiser of the year, benefiting the Meals on Wheels program.
As is tradition, the oldest attendees were chosen prom king and queen. This year, Laguna Woods residents Henry Tornell, 99, and Helen Weil, 97, were bestowed with the honor. The couple has been dating for seven years.
More than 15,000 seniors have attended the Age Well proms since the event’s inception over 20 years ago. Collectively, more than $500,000 has been raised to fund Meals on Wheels programs throughout south Orange County.
