Huntington Beach woman crossing street killed in Stanton hit-and-run

A driver killed a Huntington Beach woman as she walked across a street in Stanton early Sunday, officials said.

The woman, identified as Lisa Underhill, 62, was walking in a crosswalk near Beach Boulevard and Lampson Avenue at around 2:45 a.m., said Carrie Braun, a spokeswoman for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. That’s when a driver appears to have hit her and left her dead.

Detectives found evidence that the vehicle was likely a 2007 to 2009 Toyota Camry. It’s not  clear what led them to that conclusion. They did not know the color of the car.

Images of the vehicle were not available Sunday. Detectives had not yet been able to gather any security camera footage, if any, from nearby stores.

Detectives were searching for anyone who might have seen the alleged hit-and-run or a vehicle fleeing the area around the time of the crash.

“There were no witnesses. None that we’re aware of at least,” Braun said.

They asked anyone with information about the crash and the woman’s death to call the Sheriff’s Department at (714) 628-7170.
