COSTA MESA Two passengers escaped serious injuries over the weekend after the green Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera crashed and ended up stuck under a construction trailer building, police said.
On Saturday, Feb. 3, officers arrived at the site in the 1600 block of Whittier Avenue about 2:10 a.m. and found the green luxury car under the structure, Costa Mesa police said in an announcement. The driver, later identified as 31-year-old Cesar Castro Rodriguez of Westminster, was at the scene looking for the 25-year-old passenger. The driver did not have any major injuries.
It took Costa Mesa Fire & Rescue 45 minutes to get inside the car because of the unstable trailer on top of it and surrounding downed power lines. Investigators discovered that the passenger had left the scene before first responders had gotten to the scene. He was found about two hours later at his home in Westminster with minor injuries.
Police arrested Rodriguez on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
