A magnitude-3.3 earthquake struck in the Joshua Tree National Park area early Tuesday morning, according to preliminary information from the US Geological Survey.
The shaker hit at 4:15 a.m. and 56 seconds, according to USGS data.
The quake was centered 17.4 miles northeast of Indio, the USGS reported. Its depth was calculated as 2.3 miles, which is considered shallow by USGS standards.
