A driver was killed and his passenger hospitalized with moderate injuries after the pickup truck they were traveling in overturned near O’Neil Regional Park in Trabuco Canyon Monday morning, Dec. 27, authorities said.

The driver, a 22-year-old Costa Mesa man, was driving southbound on Live Oak Canyon Road at an unknown speed near the park’s entrance when he crashed at about 3:45 a.m., the California Highway Patrol said.

The driver was ejected. The passenger, a 24-year-old Mission Viejo man, was taken to Mission Hospital, the CHP said.
