Curt Seeden: Fountain Valley School District art show is always a big draw

For the past 17 years, the Fountain Valley School District has celebrated the artistic talents of students attending the district’s 10 schools.

This year’s 18th annual art show, titled “Let Art Grow,” is set for 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 10 at the school district office.

The popular show will feature displays of art by students from each school, performances by the district’s middle school vocal music program, a photo booth and several popular food trucks.

Students and their parents can check out interactive art stations, use their artistic talents at the cookie creation station and more. Additionally, the district has collaborated with Mimi’s Jewelry owner David Truong for a jewelry-designing contest.

The winning jewelry piece will be auctioned off and all proceeds will go to the Fountain Valley Schools Foundation.

The Fountain Valley School District office is at 10055 Slater Ave.

And while I’m on the subject of the Fountain Valley Schools Foundation, make sure to mark your calendars for Saturday, April 25.

The 17th annual Taste of Fountain Valley, a fundraiser for the foundation, is set for 5 to 9 p.m. at Los Caballeros Sports Village in Fountain Valley.

Attendees will have an opportunity to taste a variety of food samples from more than 30 local restaurants, caterers, bakeries, beverage vendors, wineries and breweries.

This year’s event, themed “Where Food Celebrates Education,” will include a Family Fun Zone with a separate “Taste Jr.” food vendor section – a designated area that can be enjoyed by an entire family.

Additionally, Taste of Fountain Valley will have full pours from wineries and breweries available for purchase, as well as musical entertainment. Also planned is a silent auction that will feature gift baskets for children and adults.

Tickets are $40 per person for those 21 or older; $20 per person for those under 21 in the event’s Family Fun Zone section. To purchase tickets, or for more information, visit TasteofFV.com.

Los Caballeros Sports Village is at 17272 Newhope St., in Fountain Valley, across the street from the post office.
