Search crews have been combing the waters off the coast of Huntington Beach for a diver reported missing Sunday, Jan. 16.
The missing person may be in the area of platform Elly, an oil processing facility about 5 miles from shore, U.S. Coast Guard officials said in a Tweet. They were described as a commercial diver, Long Beach Fire Department spokesman Brian Fisk said.
The Coast Guard asked the LBFD and other local agencies to help them look for the diver shortly after 11:30 a.m., Fisk said. Boats and aircraft were still searching the area as of 1:45 p.m.
