Coroner IDs Santa Ana man killed in high-speed crash in Westminster

WESTMINSTER — A Santa Ana man was identified Sunday as the driver of a silver sedan that slammed into a parked car in Westminster at such a high rate of speed it caused a chain reaction of parked car crashes.

Juan Ayala was 23-years-old, according to the coroner’s office. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The fatal crash occurred at 2:30 a.m. Saturday at Newhope Street and McFadden Avenue, according to Westminster police.

“At this point, we have a witness who identified the driver of a hit and run in Santa Ana,” Westminster police Sgt. Phoung Phan told CBS2.

That crash occurred about two miles away from the second crash scene.

A witness to the hit-and-run followed the driver and saw him crash into the other vehicles, police said.
