Coronavirus tracker: Hospitalizations in California fall below 2,000, with 1,433 new cases and 100 new deaths as of May 1

Hospitalizations across the state fell below 2,000 to 1,942, down 91.2% from the Jan. 6 high of 22,098, according to Saturday’s end-of-day totals on California public health websites,

There were 1,433 new cases of the coronavirus reported in the state, bringing the total number of cases so far to 3,716,760.

There were 100 new deaths reported statewide Saturday, for a total of 61,510 people who have died from COVID-19.

According to the California Department of Public Health, 29.8 million vaccine doses have been administered in the state and 31.3% of residents are now fully vaccinated.
