Coronavirus state tracker: Hospitalizations in California down 48% from July’s high; 4,289 new cases

Hospitalizations across the state are down 48% from their July 21 high of 8,820.  According to state health agencies, there were 4,571 people in the hospital for COVID-related reasons on Thursday, Sept. 3, which is 280 fewer patients than reported the previous day.

There were about 4,289 newly confirmed cases of the coronavirus in California as of Thursday, according to Southern California News Group research of all county health dashboards in the state. There were 174 new deaths reported, bringing the total number of deaths related to the virus to 13,448.

The number of COVID-19 diagnostic test results reported in California reached 11,663,924, as of Thursday, an increase of 83,554 tests since Wednesday.
