Coronavirus: 67.8% of Orange County residents 65 and older fully vaccinated as ofJune 14

The OC Health Care Agency says it will only post COVID-19 case count data on weekdays for the remainder of June, and it will taper off to once-a-week reporting in July.

Beginning July 1, OC data will be updated on Tuesdays by 5 p.m. The data will continue to be tracked by CalREDIE’s disease reporting and surveillance system, officials said.

As of Monday, June 14, the cumulative total in the county was 255,663 cases since tracking began, with 75 new cases reported from over the weekend.

As of June 14, there were 372 new infections reported in the last 14 days.

The total number of COVID-19 fatalities is 5,097. Two new deaths were reported on Monday, the most recent death was June 4.

The California Department of Public Health’s vaccines dashboard said more than 3.27 million vaccine doses have been distributed in Orange County as of Friday. As of June 8, the percentage of people fully vaccinated in Orange County by age was as follows:

  • 65 and older: 67.8%
  • 50-64: 67.1%
  • 18-49: 52%
  • Up to 17: 17.5%

Of the cumulative 5,095 deaths reported from the virus, 1,131 were skilled nursing facility residents, 589 were in assisted living facilities, one was an O.C. jail inmate and 12 were listed as homeless.

The county’s breakdown of deaths by age is as follows:

17 and younger: 0.02% (1)18-24: 0.16% (8)25-34: 1.16% (59)35-44: 2.26% (115)45-54: 6.34% (324)55-64: 14.31% (730)65-74: 19.27% (982)75-84: 24.59% (1,253)85 and older: 31.89% (1,625)
