The Orange County Health Care Agency reported 380 new cases of the coronavirus on Monday, Nov. 16, increasing the cumulative total in the county to 65,605 cases since tracking began.

An estimated 5,001 cases have been recorded in the last 14 days.

According to the state’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy, Orange County will immediately fall back to the purple tier, which guides how tightly businesses and the public sector will be restricted.

No new deaths were reported by the county on Monday, keeping the total number of reported deaths to 1,526.

Of the cumulative 1,526 deaths reported from the virus, 586 were skilled nursing facility residents, 121 were in assisted living facilities and five were listed as homeless.

The county’s breakdown of deaths by age is as follows:

85 and older: 32% (497)75-84: 22% (331)65-74: 20% (302)55-64: 14% (211)45-54: 8% (119)35-44: 3% (40)25-34: 1.3% (21)18-24: <.3% (4)17 and younger: 0% (1)

The data on deaths in the county is compiled from death certificates or gathered through the course of case investigations and can take weeks to process, officials say.

It is estimated about 88% of the cumulative reported cases, or 56,548 people as of Friday, have recovered. The count of people who have recovered is based on the prior 28-day cumulative case count.

The county update reported 1,255,178 tests have been given for the coronavirus since testing began locally, with at least 4,848 tests reported in the last 24 hours.

The county also reported 257 patients in hospitals with the coronavirus on Monday. The highest number of hospitalizations in Orange County was 722 on July 14. There were 85 patients listed in ICUs.

Data posted each day is preliminary and subject to change, officials emphasize. More information may become available as individual case investigations are completed.
