Coronavirus: 335 new cases, more than 1.2 million tests in Orange County on Nov. 11

The Orange County Health Care Agency reported 335 new cases of the coronavirus on Wednesday, Nov.11, increasing the cumulative total to 63,165 cases.

An estimated 3,723 cases have been recorded in the last 14 days.

Two new deaths were reported by the county on Wednesday, raising the total number of reported deaths to 1,514.

Of the cumulative 1,512 deaths reported from the virus, 579 were skilled nursing facility residents, 120 were in assisted living facilities and five were listed as homeless.

The county’s breakdown of deaths by age is as follows:

85 and older: 32% (494)75-84: 22% (327)65-74: 20% (300, +1)55-64: 14% (210, +1)45-54: 8% (117)35-44: 3% (39)25-34: 1.3% (21)18-24: <.3% (5)17 and younger: 0% (1)

The data on deaths in the county is compiled from death certificates or gathered through the course of case investigations and can take weeks to process, officials say.

It is estimated about 89% of the cumulative reported cases, or 55,559  people as of Wednesday, have recovered. The count of people who have recovered is based on the prior 28-day cumulative case count.

The county update reported 1,206,059 tests have been given for the coronavirus since testing began locally, with at least 8,197 tests reported in the last 24 hours.

The county also reported 244 patients in hospitals with the coronavirus on Wednesday, 20 more than the previous day’s report. There were 83 patients listed in ICUs.

Data posted each day is preliminary and subject to change, officials emphasize. More information may become available as individual case investigations are completed.
