HUNTINGTON BEACH There’s still time to see the Ballet Etudes’ popular performance of “The Nutcracker,” featuring local professional dancer Evan Strand as the Cavalier, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9 and 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10.
This year marks the 21st annual production, but the first with a professional in the role of the Cavalier. The performance has also added a scene in Drosselmeyer’s Toy Shop.
Set to the Tchaikovsky musical score, the ballet tells the story of Clara and her magical adventures with her toy nutcracker until it, naturally, is transformed into a prince. Production is complete with Kingdom of Sweets and Sugar Plum Fairy.
This performance is a 90-minute traditional production with a cast of 137 children from Huntington Beach and surrounding cities.
The production is at Huntington Beach High Auditorium, 1905 Main St. Cost: $25 – $35. Information: 855-222-2849, balletetudes.com.
