The first tree fire was spotted in a creek bed near Brookhollow and Sunlight Creek just before 11 a.m. Sheriff’s deputies responded and found six more trees on fire, said Sgt. Scott Steinle, an OCSD spokesman.
The fires spread to nearby brush. The Orange County Fire Authority responded and stopped the progress of the blaze by around noon, said Capt. Thanh Nguyen.
After getting a description of the man from witnesses, Sheriff’s deputies searched the area and found him. He was arrested, but was not immediately publicly identified.
Steinle said the man was booked on suspicion of seven arsons. He had not been charged yet.
