Armory shelters to be open 24 hours during upcoming rainstorm

With rain in the forecast, it has been announced the armory homeless shelters in Fullerton and Santa Ana will be open 24 hours to give people a dry place to stay.

The shelters will stay open from 6:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 30 to 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31. They have combined room for up to 400 people and also offer a meal and warm shower.

The California Military Department works with the shelter program, which is operated by Mercy House, to make the spaces available. The shelters are offered during the colder months of the year, but typically just for overnight.

Shuttles will offer transportation; find out more at mercyhouse.net.
