3 dead in Beverly Crest shooting identified as out of state residents; 4 others remain in hospital

All three of the victims shot to death outside a Beverly Crest home early Saturday morning came from out of state to attend a house party in the pricey neighborhood, officials said.

The dead were identified as Iyana Hutton, 33, of Chicago, Nenah Davis, 29, of Boiling Brook, Illinois and Destiny Sims, 26, of Buckeye, Arizona.

All three were women, according to the coroner’s office. Hutton was killed while standing in the street near the home at 2799 Ellison Drive. Davis and Sims were inside a vehicle when they died. It’s not clear if they were in the same vehicle.

All were shot at around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Another two people were shot and taken to nearby hospitals — they were last listed in critical condition on Saturday, LAPD said.

Another two people were injured, but it’s not clear if they were shot. A detailed description of their current condition was not provided Saturday.

The shooting, which occurred almost exactly a week after a mass shooting in Monterey Park killed 11 people, roiled the quiet neighborhood near Beverly Hills.

Investigators were still trying to piece together what led up to violence in Beverly Crest. but police said it was not a random crime.

LAPD said there was a gathering at the home that night. The shooting occurred outside the house; investigators marked the street where they found shell casings.

A police spokesman said there was more than one person shooting in what must have amounted to a “gun battle,” though investigators have not said yet how many shooters they believe fired weapons.
