SANTA ANA — Three people, including two children, were injured in a collision involving a school bus and a minivan in Santa Ana on Monday afternoon.
A Toyota Sienna driver allegedly failed to yield for a stop sign on northbound Daisy Avenue at Willits Street and slammed into a school bus traveling westbound on Willits about 1:15 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
The bus careened through a fence and into a yard, according to the CHP, which reported that the minivan was going about 40 to 50 mph before the crash and the bus was traveling about 20 mph.
The man behind the wheel of the Sienna was taken to an area hospital with moderate injuries, according to the CHP.
There were four students on the bus, ranging in age from 9 to 15, the CHP reported. Two of those children were taken to Children’s Hospital of Orange County to be checked for “complaint of pain” injuries and the other two other students were released to a parent or guardian, according to the CHP.
