Two people have been arrested in San Bernardino County in connection with a June 10 mobile home fire in Santa Ana in which two people were found dead.
There apparently was a dispute over property between one of the men arrested, Jason Philip Blanchard, 43, and at least of the people who died, Sgt. Maria Lopez, a spokeswoman for the Santa Ana Police Department, said Thursday, June 16. An exact motive was still under investigation, she said.
The victims were Steven Christian, 30, and Jillian Alise, 33. They were dating, Lopez said. The causes of death have not been announced. Shots were fired at the scene either before or after the fire started, Lopez added.
Blanchard was arrested in Barstow on June 13 on suspicion of murder, arson and use of an incendiary device, Lopez said. The second person was arrested Wednesday in Apple Valley. Police are withholding the name until the arrest charges can be determined, Lopez said.
The fire was reported at about 10:14 p.m. in the 5000 block of W. McFadden Avenue. Christian’s body was found the night of the fire, and police announced on June 15 that Alise’s body had been found.
Police said shortly after the fire that they believe it was deliberately set.
