1 pedestrian killed, another hurt in Santa Ana crash

A vehicle struck two pedestrians in Santa Ana, killing one and critically injuring the other, authorities said Sunday.

The crash happened around 8:30 p.m. Saturday in the 4700 block of 1st Street, Santa Ana police said in a news release. The pedestrians were crossing 1st Street when they were hit by a vehicle that was traveling west.

One of the pedestrians was pronounced dead at the scene. Paramedics rushed the other to a hospital.

The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with police. The motorist was not suspected of driving under the influence, SAPD officials said.

The cause of the crash was not immediately clear. Officers urged anyone with information regarding the crash to call traffic investigators at 714-245-8215.
