A man was found dead of a gunshot wound in Santa Ana late Friday, police said.
Officers went to the 1300 block of W. 6th Street after getting a call about gunshots. The caller said they saw a man jumping into a backyard immediately after the shots.
But when police got to the scene, they couldn’t find a victim, Santa Ana officials said in a statement.
About an hour later, they got a call about a body lying near 1300 W. 5th Street, a block away from the original call. Police and paramedics went to that second location and found the man on the ground. He was declared dead at the scene.
There was little other information available about the shooting Sunday. Santa Ana detectives did not answer calls for comment.
The victim had not been identified yet.
