1 dead, 3 injured in shooting at Huntington Beach home

A male victim was dead and three others were injured in a shooting at a Huntington Beach home Saturday morning, Aug. 7, authorities said.

Huntington Beach officers were called to a shooting in the 4500 block of Operetta Drive just past 10:50 a.m. and found four victims outside the home, Capt. Tim Martin said.

The victims were taken by Huntington Beach paramedics to a hospital for treatment, but one died, Martin said. Further information, including his approximate age, was not immediately known.

A SWAT team was called out and was in the process of securing the house, Martin said.

He declined to speak on the status of the suspect. Police have said the area has been secured and there is no safety threat to the community.

It wasn’t immediately known if all four victims or the suspect lived at the single family home. The shooting took place in a residential community near Haven View Park.

Information regarding a motive and the conditions of the other three people were not immediately provided.

Residents were asked to avoid the neighborhood south of Edinger Avenue between Bolsa Chica Street and Fantasia Lane while police continued to investigate.
